Javier Paredes

Javier Paredes is an award winning designer and founding principal of Studio Massivo, a design and development studio obsessed with practical beauty & projects that articulate a deep sense of cultural and environmental stewardship. His experience ranges from urban parks to public mega projects. Recently, Javier has been focused on the unique cultural exchange along the US/Mexico Borderlands including downtown Master Plans in Brownsville, Laredo, Roma in Texas, and most notably his recent work on San Pedro Creek Culture Park in San Antonio TX- a forgotten natural creek that once marked the City’s origin, cutting 2.2 miles through the heart of Downtown, now re-imagined as a world class linear park that re-stitches the urban core- consolidating Art, Culture, and Technology to create a vibrant Civic Corridor. Prior to founding Massivo, Javier led one of the largest minority owned design firms in Texas to secure over $500M in public commissions, and was in charge of shaping the Firm’s design pipeline focusing on projects of Social Impact and cultural relevance. With the launch of Studio Massivo, Javier is in a unique position to cultivate ideas, broker partnerships, and steer design impact. He is currently leading the development vision of 300+ acres for a decommissioned Air Force Base re-adapted into a walkable mixed-use community 5-miles South of downtown San Antonio. He understands the power of transportation and urbanism in shaping hyper-connected cities and is leading an initiative to implement mobility hubs in San Antonio to create micro-TOD opportunities and expand mobility choices. He serves on the boards for VIA Metropolitan Transit and the Alamo Area MPO. He has chosen to focus his work at the intersection of infrastructure, culture, and people.
